Job Summary

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for providing direct patient care and support under the supervision of nurses and healthcare providers. This role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, performing basic clinical tasks, and monitoring patient health to ensure comfort and safety. Ideal candidates are compassionate, detail-oriented, and skilled in patient interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate.
  • Aid in patient mobility, such as helping patients with walking, transferring, and repositioning.
  • Provide basic clinical care, such as wound care, specimen collection, and applying dressings as directed by nursing staff.
  • Communicate changes in patient conditions to nurses and healthcare providers promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized patient environment, including changing linens and restocking supplies.
  • Support healthcare staff with additional tasks as required to ensure efficient patient care.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of patient care practices and clinical tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and healthcare staff.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Physical stamina to assist patients and perform duties for extended periods.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety and confidentiality.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience as a PCT, CNA, or similar healthcare support role.
  • Certification as a Patient Care Technician or Nursing Assistant (CNA).
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
