Patient Transporter
Job Summary
The Patient Transporter is responsible for safely and efficiently moving patients within the healthcare facility, such as from their rooms to diagnostic or treatment areas. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to patient safety, and the ability to operate transport equipment effectively. Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients to various locations within the facility, including diagnostic areas, treatment rooms, and discharge areas.
- Assist patients with getting in and out of wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds, ensuring comfort and safety during transfers.
- Communicate with nursing staff and other departments to coordinate patient movement.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of transport equipment, such as wheelchairs and stretchers.
- Monitor patients during transport, reporting any changes in their condition to medical staff.
- Provide courteous and compassionate interactions with patients, helping to ease any discomfort or anxiety.
- Follow all facility protocols and safety guidelines to ensure patient well-being.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to operate wheelchairs, stretchers, and other transport equipment safely.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and medical staff.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift or move patients for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Compassionate and patient-focused demeanor.
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in a healthcare or patient transport role.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Certification in CPR or First Aid is a plus.
