Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Job Summary
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides pre-hospital emergency medical care, transports patients to medical facilities, and responds to emergency situations to deliver lifesaving interventions. This role requires quick decision-making, strong medical knowledge, and the ability to work in high-pressure situations. Ideal candidates are compassionate, resilient, and dedicated to patient safety and emergency response.
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency calls and provide basic life support (BLS) and first aid to patients on-site.
- Assess patients' conditions, gather medical history, and determine necessary treatment.
- Administer emergency medical care, such as CPR, bandaging wounds, and stabilizing injuries.
- Transport patients safely to hospitals or medical facilities, monitoring vital signs and patient conditions en route.
- Maintain clean and well-stocked emergency response equipment and vehicles.
- Document patient care provided during emergency responses, following protocols for accurate records.
- Collaborate with paramedics, other EMTs, and healthcare providers to deliver coordinated patient care.
Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic life support (BLS) techniques and emergency medical procedures.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift, carry, and transport patients.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction and teamwork.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and make quick decisions under high-stress situations.
- Valid EMT certification and driver's license.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in emergency medical services (EMS) or similar emergency response roles.
- Advanced certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Familiarity with emergency medical equipment and protocols.
