Job Summary

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for administering anesthesia and providing anesthesia-related care before, during, and after surgical or procedural interventions. This role involves collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical professionals to ensure patient safety and comfort. Ideal candidates have advanced clinical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-anesthetic evaluations to assess patients' health status and determine appropriate anesthesia plans.
  • Administer various types of anesthesia, including general, regional, and local anesthesia, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout procedures.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and adjust anesthesia levels as needed to maintain stability during surgery.
  • Provide post-anesthesia care, assessing patients as they recover and addressing any complications.
  • Maintain accurate records of anesthesia administration and patient responses, following legal and facility documentation requirements.
  • Collaborate with surgical and medical teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and families about the anesthesia process and post-operative expectations.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of anesthesia techniques, pharmacology, and patient assessment.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for monitoring and responding to patient needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and make quick decisions during surgery.
  • Active CRNA certification and state licensure.

Preferred Skills

  • Master's or doctoral degree in nurse anesthesia or a related field.
  • Prior experience in anesthesia or critical care nursing.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
