Job Summary

The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients and assisting in basic cooking tasks to support kitchen staff in delivering high-quality food to guests. This role involves washing, chopping, measuring, and organizing ingredients, as well as maintaining cleanliness and order in the kitchen. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, efficient, and have a strong foundation in basic culinary skills.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, peel, and chop vegetables, meats, and other ingredients according to recipes and chef instructions.
  • Measure and prepare ingredients for line cooks and chefs, ensuring readiness for each service.
  • Organize and maintain storage of ingredients and supplies, monitoring for freshness and quality.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in food preparation areas and equipment, following health and safety standards.
  • Assist with assembling and plating simple dishes under the guidance of chefs as needed.
  • Support kitchen staff with additional tasks, including restocking and clean-up after service.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift light to moderate weights.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn.
